Following her breakaway on Saturday in the first stage of the Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs, the Luxembourger kept her mountain polka dot jersey until the end.
His start to the season was successful. Her Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs is also. Her breakaway in the first stage, which ended 21 kilometers from the finish in Steinfort, allowed her to take plenty of points and it was with great confidence that Nina Berton (22 years old) secured the coup on Sunday where his jersey was not contested. It was she who took the lead in the three GPMs of the day!

“It was a great weekend for me, I wanted to show off and I did that on Saturday and today (Sunday) where I secured the points in the first GPM. Then I did my job for the teammates. I showed that I have developed and that I have the strength to race with the best here. Showing that at home is good. I saw that on the climbs, I was able to make the difference. I didn’t know how Sunday’s stage would go, but I was quickly reassured by my team,” explained Nina Berton.
As on the recent Tour of Normandy, the Luxembourger therefore left with this polka dot outfit. “The climbs suit me well, also the somewhat shorter and steeper climbs. It is on this kind of race that I express myself best. The internship I spent in Nice for two weeks did me good. It’s diverse and enjoyable. Mentally and physically, it feels good,” she explained.
After a week of rest, Nina Berton will return to Spain with her team to compete in a one-day race (Durango-Durango on May 16) and from May 18 to 21, the Tour de Burgos. “It will be my first World Tour stage race, I think the Spanish races suit me well because they are mountainous,” rejoices the one who never ceases to amaze.
