▼ Escaped from Massa prison steals a Harley: caught in Desenzano

The man who, during an award permit, thought fit to escape from the Massa Carrara prison in which he was being held, has been traced to Desenzano, on Lake Garda. The daring escape also took place riding a Harley Davidson stolen from an unsuspecting seller.

The contours of the story that took place between Tuscany and Lombardy and which involved a 54-year-old German who was in prison in Massa for crimes committed against property are not yet fully understood. The man, out on an award permit, managed to contact and reach the owner of a motorcycle, a Harley Davidson Electra Glide model worth over 23,000 euros, which had been put up for sale online. On the pretext of trying out the two-wheeler before buying it, the 54-year-old walked away: only when he never saw him return did the owner of the vehicle understand what had happened and went to the police to report the fact.

At that point, the soldiers of the Massa investigative unit, coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, went on the trail  of the fugitive who was traced to a farmhouse near Desenzano del Garda. The man was arrested and will have to answer for evasion and fraud. The motorcycle has been returned to its rightful owner.
