To Isabella Rossellini the David Special 2023

Isabella Rossellini will receive the David Speciale 2023. This was announced by Piera Detassis, President and Artistic Director of the Academy of Italian Cinema – David di Donatello Awards, in agreement with the Board of Directors composed of Francesco Giambrone, Francesco Rutelli, Nicola Borrelli, Francesca Cima , Edoardo De Angelis, Domenico Dinoia, Valeria Golino, Giancarlo Leone, Luigi Lonigro, Mario Lorini, Francesco Ranieri Martinotti.

The award will be given on Wednesday 10 May: award ceremony live in prime time on Rai 1 from the Cinecittà@Lumina studios in Rome, conducted by Carlo Conti flanked by Matilde Gioli.

”From the transgressive television of Renzo Arbore to the cinema of the Taviani brothers, from Il Pap’occhio to the cult films of David Lynch, always crossing territories of the great authors, Saverio Costanzo, Nikita Mikhalkov, Robert Zemeckis, Peter Weir, Denis Villeneuve : Isabella Rossellini, daughter of two cinema legends, Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, has been able to challenge every commonplace with great freedom”, explains Piera Detassis, ”confirming herself as a multifaceted and nonconformist artist, a model of enormous fame, a great interpreter and ironic author of provocative theatrical films and monologues, finally ethologist and environmental activist.
