Became an alcoholic by sipping the bottoms of his owner’s bottle: after four weeks of treatment, this dog is again sober

The veterinarians who treated the animal said they were seeing this kind of case for the first time.

The story begins just over a month ago when the English owner of two dogs dies. Shortly after his death, his animals showed serious signs of withdrawal. Indeed, the doggies had taken on the bad habit of sipping the bottoms of bottles left behind by their master, reports The Daily Mirror. The Woodside Animal Welfare Trust then takes care of the two dogs who have become alcoholics.

Four weeks of sedation later, Coco is sober again

According to the animal rescue center based in Plymouth, Devon, southern England, the two canines needed immediate care. After four weeks of sedation, one of the two dogs finally managed to get rid of his addiction. This is Coco, a two-year-old Labrador.

Coco was luckier than her companion treated for the same addiction who died during her stay. The veterinarians who treated the animal said they were seeing this kind of case for the first time. According to the animal rescue service, however, Coco is not yet ready for adoption and despite his recovery, he is still very anxious.
